Learning Scenario
The Literature Teacher of grade 10 rushed into the class about two minutes late as he greets the students with a huge smile, he said: "how are you?" The students, 40 in number responded in a more nagging tone.
The Teacher wrote on the chalkboard the title of the Literature text "Things Fall Apart" and the Text author "Chinua Achebe". He then asked each student to open the textbook to chapter one which focuses on the life of Oknokwo father (Unoka). Looking at the class again with a smile he said, "Last week we introduced our characters in the assigned text, can anyone give us the name of two characters we discussed last week?" Yamah, a student in the front roll raised her hand and being recognized by the Teacher, she said: "I remember Oknokwo and Obierika"."Great" the teacher said, and he went further to ask the class the second question "Can anyone else also tell us what you remember about one of these characters? At this point, the class was quiet and the teacher told every student to read through their notes. After ten minutes of reviewing their notes, Kollie was pointed out by the teacher to discuss two characters from the text. Kollie responded by choosing character Ikemefuna for discussion.
